After completing her B.Sc. in Chemistry in 1999, Sheeba joined ICD Kollam’s Karunagappally Centre while awaiting admission to her M.Sc. programme. With just five months of focused coaching at ICD, she appeared for the last BSRB recruitment examination and secured selection as a Clerk-cum-Cashier in Canara Bank.
She joined Canara Bank on 30 July 2001 at the Nilambur Branch. Remarkably, she completed her M.Sc. studies and reported for duty in the bank the very next day—a testament to her dedication and determination.
After her marriage and the birth of her son, Sheeba decided to aim even higher. In 2004, she took four months’ leave from her job and returned to ICD Kollam, this time to prepare for the SBI Probationary Officer Examination. Once again, ICD became a turning point in her career. Her hard work and disciplined preparation resulted in her cracking the SBI PO Examination, and she joined the State Bank of India on 1 August 2005.
Her excellence continued well beyond the selection process. During her probation, she scored more than 75% in the confirmation examination and successfully cleared the Group Discussion and Interview, earning confirmation as a Scale II Deputy Manager—an achievement that reflected her exceptional professional calibre.

Today, Ms. Sheeba Chithajan serves as Deputy General Manager (Strategy) at the State Bank of India’s Corporate Centre, Mumbai. Prior to her current assignment, she served as DGM (SME) and DGM (Digital & Transaction Banking) in the Mumbai Metro Circle, handling key strategic and business responsibilities in one of India’s largest banking institutions.
